The experience of beauty is the most poignant and intense that we have, combining the immediacy of impulse and the vividness of feeling with the clarity and the comprehension of reason, here we feel and know at the same time that the meaning of life is before us. It is all there , the effort, the conflict, and also the end of effort , the resolution of the conflict. Here is what we have sought ; our quest is finished , and we are filled with joy.

The end is not yet, we cannot stop here , and our joy is steeped in sorrow, for the lovely moment cannot stay. But by its momentum it is carried beyond itself and that is a part of life , all of which is focused in the magic, tragic moment. Just when we seem to have attained beauty we realize that it is unattainable.

Today we are very lucky because we have lots of interesting and entertaining things to see and do. At one time , though, people had to put all their time and energy into finding food, keeping warm, and protecting themselves from attack. It was not until they solved these problems that they began to look for ways of having fun. The earliest forms of entertainment were drawing pictures and telling stories. Later, men and sometimes danced to it.

Now, machines do most of our work for us, and we have time to create and enjoy exciting plays,films, music, ballets, and amazing photographs, paintings and sculptures. However people have enjoyed going to the theatre to watch plays for centuries- the first theaters were built by the Greeks about 2,500 years ago. Stone seats  were carved into the hillside. The actors did not need microphones, as sound carried right up to the back row. Those things that we can be seen in theater long time ago.
